We invite you to join the CCCAC demoscene meetup!

Let‘s watch demos and intros, make music, optimize graphics routines, etc. There will be time for presentations as well!

The demoscene is a subculture that has been developing since the 80s. Demosceners push the limits of their computers and their creativity with audio-visual demonstration programs called „demos“. As they say in the hacker ethics: You can create art and beauty on a computer.

Wir laden ein zum Demoscene-Treffen im CCCAC!

Kommt vorbei um gemeinsam Demos und Intros zu schauen, Musik zu machen, Grafikroutinen zu optimieren und so weiter. Kurzvorträge sind auch gern gesehen!

Die Demoszene ist eine Subkultur die sich seit den 80ern entwickelt. Es geht darum, Computer bis zu ihren Grenzen auszureizen mit selbstgeschriebenen audiovisuellen Demostrationsprogrammen, den „Demos“. Dabei dürfen natürlich auch künstlerische Aspekte nicht zu kurz kommen, sonst wäre es ja langweilig. Wie schon in der Hackerethik steht: Man kann mit einem Computer Kunst und Schönheit schaffen.

Im Mai laden wir wieder zum Home-Automation-Abend und dürfen dieses Mal einen Vortrag von Andy ankündigen. Freut euch auf Geschichten aus dem smarten Eigenheim, über den „Feldbus“ KNX, vom Dechiffrieren von verschlüsselten Firmwareupdates und zu guter Letzt Code Execution auf Lichtschaltern.

Wie ihr vielleicht schon gesehen habt, finden die HA-Abende nun nur noch jeden zweiten Monat statt. Wir wollen damit Platz für andere Themenabende lassen und das Thema auch nicht überstrapazieren.

In May we‘re once again opening the doors of the hackspace for the home automation evening, and this time there will be a long-awaited talk by Andy. You can look forward to stories from the smart homestead, about the „field bus“ KNX, deciphering the secrets of encrypted firmware updates and finally, code execution on light switches.

As you might have seen, the HA evening will only be every second month now. We want to make space for other themed evenings and not overdo it with the smart home topic.

Themenabend Gewerkschaft im IT-Sektor (22.04.2026)

Am 22. April ab 20 Uhr stellt sich die Brancheninitiative IT der FAU (Freie Arbeiter*innen Union) vor.

Die globalgesellschaftliche Lage ist ernst und viele sind hoffnungslos. Wir wollen euch zeigen, wie man mit der eigenen Hoffnungslosigkeit umgeht und warum gerade wir, die im Tech-Sektor arbeiten und das Chaos zu dem machen was es ist, sich besonders gut dazu eignen basisdemokratische antikapitalistische Kämpfe auszufechten. Das braucht die richtige Problemanalyse und eine noch bessere Lösungsstrategie…

Die FAU Aachen ist eine basisdemokratische Selbstorganisation von Arbeiter*innen (Gewerkschaft) die mehr als nur ein paar Prozent mehr auf dem Lohnzettel erreichen wollen. Unser Ziel ist eine Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftsordnung, die auf kollektiver Selbstverwaltung basiert. Wir setzen auf klassenkämpferische, direkte Aktionen und (internationale) Solidarität statt Sozialpartnerschaft und Standortlogik.

Silent Hacking (24th of March; 16:00)

On Tuesday, the 24th of March, we‘ll try a new kind of open evening: silent hacking. The goal is to offer an evening where one is able to hack without many distractions.

During this evening, we ask you to not speak, whisper, or otherwise disturb others (by eating, clicking pens, etc). Communication between people should happen via DMs or in the back room. Naturally, noises made by equipment (typing on keyboard, etc.) don‘t count.

We recommend wearing a nametag with a Matrix username in order for others to be able to DM you. This will help avoid „psst, hey, …“.

The evening will start at 16:00 and end at 23:00 (when it will transition into a regular open evening). Sometime starting around 19:00, there will be 45 minutes set aside for getting and eating food.

The guidelines apply to the front room only, with the back room remaining available for when a break is needed. Still, we ask you to only come if you intend to participate in the silent hacking evening, in order to actually keep the back room available. Too much noise in the back room might still disturb people in the front room.

This will be a trial, as we‘re not yet certain ourselves what the best way to organise this is. As such, we welcome feedback (before, during, and after the evening), hoping to iron out the concept into something that can happen regularly. Am Dienstag dem 24. März werden wir eine neue Art des offenen Abends ausprobieren: silent hacking. Das Ziel ist es, einen Abend anzubieten, an dem man ungestört hacken kann.

An diesem Abend bitten wir euch nicht zu sprechen, zu flüstern oder andere zu stören (zum Beispiel indem man isst, seinen Kugelschreiber wiederholt klickt, usw.) Kommunikation mit anderen sollte über private Nachrichten oder im hinteren Raum stattfinden. Erlaubt sind natürlich Geräusche von Geräten, wie das Tippen auf einer Tastatur.

Um es anderen einfacher zu machen, euch zu kontaktieren, empfehlen wir euch, ein Namensschild mit Kontaktinformationen (zum Beispiel der Name auf Matrix) zu tragen. Dadurch verhindern wir „psst, hey, …“.

Der Abend wird von 16 Uhr bis 23 Uhr gehen. Danach wird der Abend zu einem regulären offenen Abend. Um ca. 19 Uhr werden wir eine 45 Minütige Pause machen, in der man essen oder Essen bestellen können wird.

Diese Regeln gelten nur für den vorderen Raum. Im hinteren Raum sind Gespräche weiterhin erlaubt. Trotzdem bitten wir euch nur zu kommen, wenn ihr Interesse am silent hacking Abend habt, da zu viele Störgeräusche im hinteren Raum die Leute im vorderen Raum ablenken könnten.

Am 28.03.2026 lädt der Chaos Computer Club Aachen wieder neugierige Besucher*innen zum Tag des offenen Hackspace ein, unseren Hackspace zu besuchen.

Es wird Vorträge geben, wir stellen ein paar unserer Themenabende vor und ihr könnt unsere Räumlichkeiten erkunden und Projekte von Mitglieder*innen sehen.

OSDev workshop: Driver development (8. April)

On April 8th, 6 pm, we‘ll do an operating systems development workshop on the topic of drivers. You will learn how to write a driver for a microcontroller or Linux computer of your choice, that gets sensor readings from a Wii Nunchuk.

Feel free to bring your own microcontroller or Linux single-board computer, as long as it supports I²C at 3.3V. Nunchuks will be provided.

Am 8. April ab 18 Uhr veranstalten wir einen Workshop zum Thema Treiberentwicklung: Nach einem Einführungsvortrag habt ihr die Möglichkeit auf dem Microcontroller eurer Wahl einen Treiber zu schreiben der aus einem Wii Nunchuk die Sensorwerte ausliest.

Wenn ihr wollt, bringt einen Microcontroller oder kleinen Linux-Rechner mit, der I²C auf 3,3V kann. Nunchuks sind schon vorhanden.

Weil es beim letzten mal ziemlich gut funktioniert hat, veranstalten wir nächsten Mittwoch (11. März, 20 Uhr) wieder einen offenen Vortragsabend im CCCAC. Es gibt kein Programm, bringt einfach eure Lightning-Talks, Entwürfe, Bachelorarbeiten oder andere Präsentationen mit und haltet sie im Space!

Silent Karneval

Am 16. Februar ist bekanntlich Rosenmontag, da wird also viel Karneval sein. Für die Hacker:innen denen Karneval zu laut und anstregend ist öffnen wir unseren Clubraum für gemütliches Hack, ganz ohne Alaaf und Helau.

Start ist 14:00 Uhr, evtl. auch früher, schau dafür auf den Clubstatus.

Denkt dran das es Montags einen Umzug mit Route durch die Theaterstraße gibt und plant das bei der Anreise. Der Zug startet um 11:11, Geschwindigkeit und Dauer sind unbekant.

Monday Feb 16 (Rosenmontag) is the day where a lot of Carneval is happening on the streets. For those Hackers that don‘t like the loud environment we offer asylum at our hackerspace for a day of chill hacking.

Doors open at 14:00, perhaps earlier - check Clubstatus.

There will be traffic obstructions you should be aware of, people will celebrate on the street starting at 11:11. Speed and Duration is unknown, we can‘t tell when the treck will have passed Theaterstraße.

Am 25. Februar ab 20 Uhr veranstalten wir einen Themenabend über Spieleentwicklung und -design.

Egal ob du einfach gern spielst, neugierig bist, wie Spiele entstehen, oder selbst an einem Projekt bastelst: Komm vorbei! Bring dein Projekt mit oder lehn dich einfach zurück und hör zu.

Wir laden ein zu einem gemütlichen Abend mit alten und weniger alten Spielen! Beim Retro-Spieleabend gehen wir nach dem Motto “Spaß am Gerät” hands-on mit interessanter Spiele-Hard- und Software. Wir möchten besonders Dinge wie unkonventionelle Controller und Eingabemethoden, übertriebene Multiplayer-Setups oder längst veraltete (Online-)Verbindungen ausprobieren und behacken. Wir sind aber nicht nur Fans von Original-Hardware, auch Emulatoren finden wir spannend – einige von uns haben sogar schon selber einen geschrieben.

Bei uns bekommst du Hilfe zu Hard- und Softmodding deiner alten Konsolen und ab und zu wollen wir unsere skillz bei einem kleinen Spiele-Turnier messen. Es ist nicht nötig, eigene Hardware mitzubringen, aber wenn du uns coole Hardware zeigen, ein Projekt mitbringen oder einfach nur über deine Lieblings-Plattform quatschen willst, nur zu! Du kannst auch gerne mit uns Streetpassen.

We invite you to a cozy evening with more or less old games! Based on the motto „Spaß am Gerät“ (lit. fun with the device) the retro gaming evening has us going hands-on with interesting gaming hard- and software. We especially want to try out unconventional controllers and other input methods, overkill multiplayer setups or long obsolete (online-)connectivity and maybe hack around them. We‘re not just interested in original hardware though, emulators are just as fascinating – some of us have even written their own.

You‘ll find assistance for hard- and softmodding of old consoles and from time to time we‘d like to test our skillz with a little tournament. There‘s no need to bring anything of your own but if you have cool hardware you want to show off, a project you‘re working on, or just want to chat about your favorite platform, be our guest. Streetpassing is encouraged.

Wir haben smartes Zuhause zu Hause! Home Automation ganz ohne Cloud und große Konzerne ist nicht nur möglich sondern eröffnet ganz neue Möglichkeiten.

Beim Home-Automation-Abend wollen wir uns über Home Assistant, ESPhome, Valetudo und ähnliche Software austauschen, interessante Lösungen für unsere Probleme suchen und teilen, Hardware von der Cloud befreien und eventuell sogar das Setup in den Clubräumen selbst verbessern ;)

Wir hoffen auf lockeren Austausch, viele Fragen Antworten und ab und zu kurze Vorträge – wenn du einen Vortrag halten willst kontaktiere uns auf Matrix oder Mastodon, damit wir ihn ankündigen können.
